  72. This package contains the NoteWorthy 2 Version 2.01 or later, by
  73. Braeburn Software.

  75. This document contains only a brief description of the package and its
  76. features, along with instructions for its installation.  Quite detailed
  77. documentation is included in the package, but it is in archived form, and
  78. is more easily read after installation.
  79.  
  80. If you've ever wished you could create high-quality musical notation
  81. simply and quickly then NoteWorthy is the package for you... It is
  82. emphatically NOT a midi-based program so does not play back the music
  83. for you, nor take input from keyboards. This has tremendous advantages
  84. because the software is totally unintelligent - it will allow you to
  85. put symbols exactly where YOU want them, and if you want to break
  86. musical rules by putting 5 beats in a 4/4 bar then that's fine by the
  87. package. Everything, but everything, is under your control. The program
  88. neither understands what you are putting on the sheet, nor cares.

  90. NoteWorthy is a shareware program.  This evaluation version includes
  91. all features of the program, and is not crippled in any way.  You may
  92. use it for up to 30 separate days, without charge. After your 30 days
  93. (which do not have to be continuous - they could be 30 Saturday
  94. afternoons!) the program will cease to load.
  95.  
  96. If you like the program, and wish to continue its use after this
  97. evaluation period, you are required to pay for the program (see
  98. REGISTER.FRM for more details).  Any fee you may have paid to others
  99. (disk vendors, dealers, etc.) to obtain this evaluation version was a fee
  100.  for their copying and distribution services, rather than a payment for
  101.  continued use of the program.

  104. Although NoteWorthy is a DOS product, Windows users may care to use the
  105. Windows installation routine. Note however, that like all DOS products
  106. which run under Windows it will need configuring for output screen and
  107. printer type. The configuration is run automatically for you.

  110. on-screen.

  159. ===== Installation =====================================

  161. The installation procedure for NoteWorthy 2 is quite simple.  The package
  162. includes a choice of programs, "INSTALL.EXE" (for DOS) and "WINSTALL.EXE"
  163. (for Windows). These automate the entire process.  You will need about
  164. 1350K of available disk space on the hard drive on which you plan to
  165. install NoteWorthy, and about 1Mb spare which NoteWorthy uses as scratch
  166. space.

  168. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received
  169. NoteWorthy.
  170.  
  171. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  172.  
  173. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  174.  
  175.    o  Place NoteWorthy distribution diskette in the appropriate diskette
  176.       drive.
  177.  
  178.    o  Execute the "INSTALL.EXE" program on the distribution diskette.
  179.       For example, if the distribution diskette is on drive A:, type
  180.       the MS-DOS command, "a:install".
  181.  
  182.             - or -

  184.    o  From the Windows Program Manager select File Run and give the name
  185.       "a:winstall". This will create a group and icons to help you start
  186.       NoteWorthy more conveniently.

  188.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.
  189.       You will have a chance to approve installation before any changes
  190.       are actually made to the contents of your hard drive.  The
  191.       program will ask you for a destination directory, and will copy
  192.       the NoteWorthy files to that directory.  If you so direct it, the
  193.       installation program will install executable programs and
  194.       documentation in other directories of your choice.  It will make no
  195.       other changes; specifically, it will not modify your autoexec.bat
  196.       or config.sys files.

  199. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE

  201. If you downloaded NoteWorthy from a BBS (or received it in the form of
  202. archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  203. following steps.

  205.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  206.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  207.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  208.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  209.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  210.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  211.       directions for this from the same source from which you received
  212.       the package.

  214.    o  Execute the "INSTALL.EXE" program which you have extracted.  For
  215.       example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
  216.       the <product> package is C:\TEMPDIR, you would execute the MS-DOS
  217.       command, "c:\tempdir\install". Alternatively, as mentioned abovem
  218.       you can run "c:\tempdir\winstall" from the Windows Program
  219.       Mangager.

  221.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.

  232. delete the temporary directory FROM which you installed NoteWorthy

  238. Once you've complete the installation, you should consult the manual
  239. ("MANUAL.TXT") which has been installed. Alternatively, if you never
